WOODBURY COMMUNITY CHURCH (WOODBURY, MN)

Woodbury Community Church started in 1978 as a project of the Upper Midwest Congregational Fellowship. Ron Hamilton was called by the fellowship to serve as the founding pastor in 1977. The core members of the congregation were former members of the University Avenue Congregational Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, as well as local people who were recruited by a canvass of the community.
While the early days of the church’s ministry were challenging and growth was slow, development of the church improved in 1983 after the purchase of the former Woodbury Community Club. This facility was sold in 1992 and the church relocated to its current site in 1994.
Outreach and multiplication are foundational to the DNA of Woodbury Community Church. The church helped start YoungLife in Woodbury in 1985 as an outreach to the community. Between 1998-2003, three young couples were raised up and sent into cross-cultural missions. Additionally, the church played an integral role in birthing three new churches in cooperation with the UMCF, located in Avon and Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and Hudson, Wisconsin, respectively.
Pastor Ron Hamilton resigned in 2006 to assume the duties as the CCCC Director of Church Multiplication. After a period of interim ministry, Brian Schulenburg was hired in 2008 under whom the church continues to grow and develop in the community.
